FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own motorcycle?

Yes. All Eurobiketours tours are designed for riders who own and ride their own motorcycle. Your motorcycle is your responsibility throughout the tour, so you can enjoy the comfort and familiarity of riding a bike you know and trust.

Our tours are suitable for a wide range of touring and adventure motorcycles, provided your bike is road legal, reliable, properly maintained and suitable for the type of tour and routes involved.

Before setting off, we recommend making sure your motorcycle is fully serviced and in good condition, with particular attention to tyres, brakes, fluids, chain and drive system. You should also ensure you have appropriate breakdown cover and insurance for European travel.

Don’t have a motorcycle? Unfortunately, we don’t currently provide motorcycle hire as part of our tours, but if you’re interested in joining us and need to arrange a rental motorcycle, please get in touch. We may be able to point you towards suitable rental options in the destination you’re visiting.

What level of experience is required?

Touring Newcomer (The “Beginner”)

  • The Rider Profile: Competent and safe on their local roads and daily commutes, has experience riding and keeping up with fellow bikers to the speed limits, but never toured in Europe.

  • Road & Terrain Capabilities: Most comfortable on predictable, well-surfaced A-roads and highways. They can handle standard bends but may feel anxious about sustained mountain switchbacks, gravel on roads, or sudden steep inclines.

  • Group & Mental Stamina: Prone to “touring fatigue” around day 3 or 4. They require more frequent stops, a relaxed group pace, and clear guidance on lane positioning and group riding etiquette.

Intermediate Rider

  • The Rider Profile: Has completed a few multi-day trips or domestic tours. They understand how their bike handles when fully loaded with luggage/pillion and are used to spending 5–6 hours in the saddle.

  • Road & Terrain Capabilities: Confident navigating moderate alpine passes, sweeping mountain bends, and changing weather conditions (like sudden rain in the hills). They can maintain a steady, smooth pace through technical sections without holding up the group.

  • Group & Mental Stamina: Adapts well to foreign road signs and traffic flows (like riding on the right in Europe). They have the stamina for back-to-back 120-180 mile days with standard rest breaks.

Advanced Rider

  • The Rider Profile: A seasoned tourer with thousands of touring miles under their belt across multiple countries. They are completely self-sufficient and unfazed by changing itineraries or unexpected detours.

  • Road & Terrain Capabilities: Thrives on highly technical routes, tight switchbacks (like the Stelvio Pass), steep gradients, and poorly maintained rural tarmac. They possess excellent throttle control and lean angles, effortlessly managing a heavy touring bike in tight spaces.

  • Group & Mental Stamina: Capable of maintaining focus over long, demanding 180 – 225+ mile days through challenging geography. They understand advanced overtaking logistics and can seamlessly adapt to a faster, more dynamic group pace.

What should I bring on the tour?

We’ve put together a comprehensive packing and equipment checklist to help you prepare for your Eurobiketours adventure.

Your checklist covers the essential items you’ll need for the tour, including motorcycle equipment, clothing, documents, personal items and other useful essentials. We’ll make sure a copy is included in your tour pack, giving you plenty of time to get organised before departure.

We recommend using the checklist when preparing for your trip so you can travel with confidence and avoid forgetting any important items.

Not sure whether you need something? If you have any questions about what to bring, our team will be happy to help.

Are meals and accommodations included?

Yes, your accommodation is included in the price of all Eurobiketours tours. We carefully select comfortable 3–4★ hotels and B&Bs, chosen for their quality, location and suitability for motorcycle touring.

Breakfast is included with your accommodation, giving you a good start before each day’s riding.

We also try to make your evenings as easy and enjoyable as possible. Where practical, we arrange evening meals at the hotel or at a suitable restaurant nearby, usually for around 7:00pm each evening (excluding the scheduled day off). This means you can finish your day’s riding, relax and enjoy an evening meal without having to worry about finding somewhere to eat.

Evening meals are not included in the tour price and are paid directly to the hotel or restaurant by you at the time of eating.

What if the weather is bad?

Our tours run whatever the weather brings. If we encounter rain or poor weather during a tour, we’ll continue riding at a steady, sensible pace, allowing everyone to ride comfortably and safely.

Weather can change quickly when travelling through mountainous regions, so it’s important to come prepared. Good-quality waterproof motorcycle clothing is essential, along with suitable layers to keep you warm and comfortable throughout the day.

Our experienced tour leaders will always take the conditions into account and, where necessary, adjust the pace or route to suit the weather and road conditions.

Our advice? Pack for all conditions — sunshine, rain and everything in between!
